Shoe seller turned food truck owner

Shrimp Kicks; the Crust Bucket

A friendly fried shrimp who sold shoes at Shrimp Kicks in Splatoon 1 and then followed his dream to run the Crust Bucket food truck in Splatoon 2 and 3.

Crusty Sean is a shrimp in a tempura coat, which is either a fashion choice or a medical condition and the games decline to say. In Splatoon 1 he ran Shrimp Kicks, the shoe shop in Inkopolis Plaza's Booyah Base, and greeted every customer with an easygoing warmth that made him a fan favorite. By Splatoon 2 he had sold up and bought a food truck.

The Crust Bucket

The Crust Bucket, parked in Inkopolis Square and later Splatsville, sells food and drink tickets that boost experience, cash, or gear ability chances for a set number of matches. In-universe it is a beloved greasy-spoon on wheels, and Sean's line of tickets (from Galactic Seanwiches to Deep-Fried Shwaffles) is a running joke about how much of the menu is fried.

Character

Sean is the laid-back heart of the shopkeeper cast: unhurried, encouraging, and genuinely happy to see the player. His decision to leave a stable shoe business for a food truck is presented as a small act of courage, and his cheerful chatter about running his own place is one of the series' gentler pieces of worldbuilding. He also talks about Inkopolis the way a longtime resident does, with fond exasperation.

He is not, as far as anyone can tell, actually cooked. He just looks it.

Legacy

Sean is one of only a handful of shopkeepers to appear in all three games, and his arc from clerk to owner mirrors the series' own growth from a single plaza to a world of cities. When Splatoon 3 brought back Inkopolis Plaza and Square as hubs, the Crust Bucket was there too, still parked, still frying, still run by the friendliest shrimp in the business.
