The enormous, soft-spoken isopod who rides the Deepsea Metro, collects mem cakes, and becomes Agent 8's confidant on the long trip to the surface.
Iso Padre is a giant isopod in a scarf, taking up most of a Deepsea Metro bench and asking for nothing but company. He is one of the passengers Agent 8 meets on the train, and the only one who talks at length. His hobby is mem cakes, the small sculpted sweets that hold Agent 8's lost memories, and he trades her rewards for complete sets, admiring each one like a collector who knows exactly how precious they are.
The confidant
Where C.Q. Cumber represents the Metro's rules and Tartar its purpose, Iso Padre represents its passengers: the sea creatures who ride the line without knowing where it goes. His dialogue is warm, slow, and quietly philosophical, and he becomes the closest thing Agent 8 has to a friend underground. He asks her about the surface. He tells her about the cakes. He never asks why she is there.
The mem cakes
Each mem cake is a memory of Agent 8's life before the Metro, captioned with a short poem, and Iso Padre's collection is effectively Agent 8's biography assembled by a stranger. That the gentlest character in the expansion is the one holding her past is a deliberate touch. He gives it back, one cake at a time.
Character
Iso Padre is comfort in an uncomfortable place. He does not fight, does not judge, and does not leave. Fans adopted him instantly, and his easy presence is a big part of why the Deepsea Metro feels like a real subway rather than a dungeon. He also, at the end, gets to see the sky.
