Marina's old friend from the Octarian army, sanitized by Commander Tartar and reborn as the DJ Dedf1sh. In Side Order, the guide who helps Agent 8 climb the Spire of Order.
Acht is a DJ who died and kept making music. In the Octo Expansion she exists only as a name on a soundtrack, Dedf1sh, the sanitized Octoling whose glitchy, hypnotic tracks score the Deepsea Metro's tests. Her backstory was a mem cake and a promotional bio: an Octarian musician who wandered into Kamabo Co.'s facility and came out gray. Side Order gave her a face, a voice, and a second chance.
Before
Acht grew up in the Octarian domes alongside Marina. The two were friends and, it is implied, bandmates, with Acht the cooler, more restless of the pair. When Marina left for the surface, Acht stayed, and at some point she went looking for a way out of her own. She found the Deepsea Metro instead. Commander Tartar's sanitization stripped her will and turned her into a Kamabo asset, and the music she made in that state, released in-universe as Dedf1sh, is some of the series' most celebrated.
The Memverse
In Side Order, Acht is inside Marina's Memverse when the program called Order takes it over. She serves as Agent 8's guide up the Spire, offering advice, sarcasm, and a slowly unfolding account of who she is and why she is helping. Her memories, like Marina's, are fragmented, and the climbs restore them. By the end she is Acht again, not Dedf1sh, and her reunion with Marina, the friend who left, is the expansion's emotional payoff.
Character
Acht is written as laconic, dry, and guarded, with a deep well of affection for Marina that she is slow to show. She uses gender-neutral pronouns in the English localization, refers to the player with easy familiarity, and treats the Order Sector's horror with the weariness of someone who has been erased before. Her ink is a muted red-violet, her look is street-DJ minimal, and her music remains the best thing to come out of Kamabo Co.
