Kamabo Co.

The corporation that runs the Deepsea Metro and its tests, a front for Commander Tartar's plan to sanitize the sea creatures and start evolution over.

Members

Kamabo Co. is a company the way a trap is a door. Its branding is on every wall of the Deepsea Metro, its conductor C.Q. Cumber administers its tests with perfect courtesy, and its point system rewards test subjects with gear and the promise of passage to the "promised land." Behind all of it is Commander Tartar, the twelve-thousand-year-old human AI that decided the sea creatures were unworthy of humanity's legacy and resolved to erase them.

The Metro lures lost Octolings, deserters from the army wandering beneath Inkopolis, and runs them through a gauntlet of challenges. Subjects who fail or succeed are sanitized: their will stripped out, their skin turned gray-green, their bodies repurposed as Kamabo soldiers. The DJ Acht, later known as Dedf1sh, was one victim. The four "thangs" Agent 8 is asked to collect assemble into a blender meant to liquefy her and Cap'n Cuttlefish into raw material.

Tartar's endgame, fired from the NILS Statue, would have dissolved every living thing in the Inkopolis region into primordial ooze. Agent 8, Pearl, and Marina stopped it. Kamabo Co.'s facilities are implied to be repurposed human infrastructure, and the Metro itself is still running somewhere beneath the city, its passengers riding in silence. Fans theorize that its sanitizing technology and Marina's Memverse share a lineage. The games have not said.
